In the wake of a renewed outbreak of Ebola virus in Liberia, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has expressed government’s commitment to fight the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare recently announced a renewed outbreak of the Ebola virus in the New Kru Town vicinity that has claimed the lives of at least seven persons including a health worker at the Redemption Hospital who was infected by the virus while attending to a patient. Liberia, Ghana Pen Deal On Permanent Joint Commission

The Republics of Liberia and Ghana have signed an Agreement that will lead to the establishment of a Permanent Joint Commission between the two West African nations.

Liberia’s Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan and Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, signed on behalf of their respective countries as the latter ended a two-day official visit to Liberia on Tuesday, June 19, 2014. U.S. Deputy Secretary Of State Heads For Liberia

Deputy Secretary Higginbottom will hold talks with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and other Liberian officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom arrives in Liberia June 19 for a two-day official visit as part of a three-nation African tour.  The visit began with stops in Senegal and Kenya.

 Deputy Secretary Higginbottom will hold talks with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and other Liberian officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will also meet with the Special Representative of the U.N.
